1) It's longer which makes it easier to cradle between shoulder and ear, and whether or not it's merely psychological, it feels like a better reach between speaking and listening.
2) The LCD display is monochrome rather than color
3) It's not backlit in the cradle which is a big plus if you find bright LCD output annoying.
