Uniden Loud and Clear Accessory Handset and Charger (EZX290) Review

Uniden Loud and Clear Accessory Handset and Charger (EZX290)
Average Reviews:

Tried ordering the base unit from Amazon, they couldn't get it. Ordered online from another company, then found it cheaper at my local Target. Nice phone for my elderly mother - hearing assist, lighted keypad, big keys, lightweight. My mom has trouble putting receiver exactly on her ear - this could be better (like the old landline phones!), but there is an identation that helps, more than on most portables. Also, the base unit can work without power, a key feature for us with frequent power outages. We've tried many phones, this seems the best. We have the base (which comes with one handset) and this extra handset so that she can always carry one with her.

Uniden DECT4066 DECT6.0 2-Line Caller ID Phone Base Keypad and Speakerphone Review

Uniden DECT4066 DECT6.0 2-Line Caller ID Phone Base Keypad and Speakerphone
Average Reviews:

We recently had an old AT&T cordless die. One of the features I loved about that phone was it's great color display on the hand sets, very easy to read in all condition.s However, this time around I wanted a phone that supported two lines. We use the Ooma VOIP phone service (premium version) and I did not want an answering machine. Your options for a phone of this nature are pretty limited, but I liked the looks of this model and the reviews on similar models are pretty good so I went with it. First the good:
- The hands sets are small and good looking and so far we have had no problems with reception anywhere in our house (the AT&T was top rated in it's time, but had problems reaching some parts of the house);
- The system more-or-less has all the features we wanted. You can call the VOIP voice mail from any handset, but you have to set up each hand set separately even though the concept of global settings is supported by the system.
- The price for the system was the best we could find for 4 two line hand sets.
- The system is mostly intuitive to use, the auto selection for the two lines is about as fool proof as you can expect for such a system. Basically, our pre-teen can spend an hour on the phone and we can still pick up incoming calls and make outgoing calls without having to give anything a second thought.
Now the not so good:
- The hand set display is pretty bad. It's hard to read and playing with the contrast settings seems to make no difference. Fix this one issue and I'd give this phone 5 stars, and truthfully, I should probably only deduct half a star (but you can't do that here).
- Setup is a little confusing. In particular, the way you make choices in the menus, but I would not deduct points for this since it's mostly a one time thing
For anyone considering using this with the Ooma service... We use the older Ooma hub and Scout since we need to place the main unit far from where we'd actually want an answering machine. The Scout then sits in the kitchen and feeds the Uniden reviewed here. Given the support for four handsets and voice mail on the Uniden we could now use the Ooma Telo, but I don't see any reason to spend the money at this point in time. Using the hub and Scout, to get a second line to the Uniden, we had to also run a connection from the line out on the Ooma hub (not the one that feeds the Scout) to the phone system. Essentially, one line comes from the Scout and one from the Hub.

The phone looks cool, but it stops there.
The battery does not hold charge and VTECH customer support has repeatedly ignored requests for a replacement. I would shop other phones. This has been a disaster of an experience.
The sound quality is also poor.

Pyle PDWM8300 Professional Conference Desktop VHF Wireless Microphone System Review

Pyle PDWM8300 Professional Conference Desktop VHF Wireless Microphone System
Average Reviews:

This item does fit in the pro category. In comparison to what's out there, this cost effective system made my install easy breezy, and there is absolutely no feed back or cross talk in the mics. The pick up doesn't seem to be as good as the wired version for some reason but wired always better.

Panasonic KX-TG6500B 5.8 GHz DSS Expandable 2-Line Cordless Phone (Black) Review

Panasonic KX-TG6500B 5.8 GHz DSS Expandable 2-Line Cordless Phone (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
There are, at this time, exactly two 5.8 GHz 2-line expandable phone systems -- this Panasonic and the Uniden TRU8866 -- and I found it frustrating to research them because they're new and there's not much information out there. So my two cents, should it be helpful...I bought this Panasonic 6500B and three handsets, played with them for a week, and called today for an RMA number to return them. I'm now evaluating the Uniden system, which I think I'll end up keeping.
(For reference, I'm migrating from a Siemens gigaset 2420, 2-line 2.4GHz system, amazon item B00004R7R1. It's noted for a few quirks, but it's been solid for 6 years and I'd easily favor it over the Panasonic.)
Pros:
-- you only have two options at present, so this phone does deliver 2-line 5.8 GHz functionality
-- blinking antenna for ringing/message was a nice touch
-- all of the basic stuff you'd expect...intercom, speakerphone, Caller ID, etc.Cons:
-- poor sound quality, even compared to my 2.4GHz system -- there was a constant hiss even when standing near the base, and it wasn't line noise. (There is a voice boost/voice enhancer function, though even the manual notes that it might amplify any existing line noise you may already have.)
-- one 'feature' that tilted me toward the panasonic was a 'shared' phone directory among the handsets and base. It actually works like the Siemens - you have to manually copy phonebook entries from one handset to another, so keeping them all in sync is a pain.
-- The handsets didn't behave like extensions of the same line; when you answer a call on one handset, all of the others display 'missed call', which you must then clear from EACH handset. So I always seemed to pick up a handset with a few missed calls, which were actually answered on a different handset.
-- Lack of an aux port so the phone can catch the distinctive ring and shuttle a call to the fax (btw, the Uniden doesn't have this either)
-- Misc. minor annoyances: Panasonic still uses a two-digit code for the answering machine, as it did ~15 years ago. Only eight ring tones (4 ring/4 melody), none of which were great.
-- basic interface is just crude compared to other modern phones/cell phones (I'm a techie with a UI/usability background, so I do have bias there).
Overall, I found this Panasonic to be a step down from the Siemens. I've only had the Uniden for a couple days, and I'd certainly say it's the better option of the two.

Motorola DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Answering System and 2 Handsets Review

Motorola DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone with Answering System and 2 Handsets
Average Reviews:

This is a great phone, I have a severe hearing loss (not Deaf) and standard cordless phones just don't have enough volume without getting into the power boost models which are big in size, I have no trouble hearing on this phone and the speaker is loud and clear also. Looks like a lot to set up but it is really easy to set up and to use. small size for tight places and extra handsets are easy to find online and from Amazon..
