(More customer reviews)Hmmm, when you hear that something eats batteries, you'd probably be thinking, a cell phone, a digital camera, or something similar right? Not a simple cordless phone, right? Well, I bought this phone from a local CVS Pharmacy store about 2 years ago now, I think. I've gone through 2 batteries already. And the replacement didn't last but 3-4 months, before it no longer holds a charge. I mean not only does it drain during a call, but it drains just sitting there off the base. I believe it may have something to do with the 5.8 GHz. Something about that they're "always on". The thing now drains within 5 minutes of leaving it off the base.
The only redeeming quality of this phone is the Caller ID and ability to scroll back through the numbers who've called. But the sound quality is horrible. Very quiet. Can't hardly hear recorded menus from professional office calls, if that makes sense....yet I can hear a satellite phone from a crusie ship half-way around the world like it was next door.
Go for one of these new 1.9 GHz DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) phones. Better on battery life and won't interfere with 2.4 GHz wi-fi networks.
