(More customer reviews)I purchased these phones about 3 weeks ago (and thus cannot tell you about their longevity yet, but assume the best). They work great for us. The sound is very clear. I needed them mainly because I wanted the intercom system, which is awesome. I can now talk with the kids upstairs instead of yelling throughout the house. The intercom unit alone is perfect and works like a true intercom. You can anwer the phone from it too, hands free. You just cannot dial out from it. The goog-411 button is a nice extra. You can always dial that number from any regular phone, it's a free service for everyone, but having it pre-dialed makes it much easier. I;ve used the service in 3 weeks more than I've ever used 411 in my whole life! The one thing that bother us, is that if you happen to answer the phone with another regular phone, not the GE Dect ones, the GE phones keep ringning one or 2 more times, while you're on the "other" phone! So if you try to answer your phone quick (so as not to wake up a baby in my case) and that you pick up another phone than one of your set, you can hear the funky ringing tone still while on the phone. It might have something to do with the phone ring I picked, it might be because it wants to finish the melody, but I haven't tried to change it back to a normal boring ring tone yet to see if it works, since most the time, we pick up with the GE phone and it's not too bothersome. One more negative thing is the blue light on the bottom of the chargers is a bit bright for a bedroom. I put a piece of paper in front of mine to keep the brightness down, it is the same brightness as a night light, so if you like your room very dark, beware. All in all, great phones, great price and they even look great.
