I run an 802.11b network at home, the router is right next to the base station and I have no interference problems. Not sure that the reviewer who disparaged the phone for interference potential actually tried it.
The phone & base look stylish (not cheap like old vtech phones) and has great features:
- Orange backlit keys
- Speakerphone on handset.
- Ability to record custom ringers from any sound source having a standard mini-plug headset jack (cord included).
- Base can take two rechargeable AA batteries (about $8 at a Staples) and let you swap for dead batts in your handset OR talk for ~2 hours during a power outage!
Only thing I'd like would be ability to listen to messages from the handset. Didn't get the 5867 because I didn't think a color display was worth extra $20; I'm pretty sure that's the only difference between the two phones.
Oh, most importantly--sound quality is great both ways.

The i5866 from VTech is a 5.8 GHz cordless phone system with a number of handy extras, including an all-digital answering system, and multi-user expandability to eight handsets. The i5866 utilizes the 5.8 GHz frequency and digital spread spectrum technology to provide clear, accurate reception with less interference than traditional 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz phones. The answering machine stores up to 15 minutes of messages split among three mailboxes, while full remote operation allows you to check messages even while you are away from home.
Caller ID/call waiting compatible, the i5866 has a 50-number caller ID memory as well as a separate 50-name-and-number phone directory to help you keep track of important contacts. You can select among eight ring tones and 12 musical ringers, while the supplied audio patch cord allows you to record custom ring tones.
A speakerphone on the handset combines with headset compatibility to provide hands-free communication options. Handset-to-handset call transfer allows you to route incoming calls to any handset registered to the system, while three-way conferencing lets you communicate with multiple parties at once. An intercom feature provides a way to communicate between handset locations, and a global page/handset function lets you speak with all handsets at once.
Additional features include flash, redial (last 10 numbers), and hold. The NiMH battery provides up to eight hours of talk time or up to five days on standby, while a low-battery indicator lets you know when to return a handset to its charging cradle. A handset control allows you to adjust volume levels. The i5866 also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.
