(More customer reviews)Pluses:
-Fit under my cycling helmet perfectly.
-Built-in Microphone is good enough for almost anywhere
-Battery life has been great to date- haven't run them all the way down yet- with a good four-hours skiing as the max.
-Controls on the side of the headphones work as advertised, awesome to control volume, track forward or back, and pausing, along with call acceptance and rejection, and voice-dial all in a fairly easily accessed area for your hands to get to, even through the ear-pads on my ski helmet.
-sound quality is much better than the Jawbone Icon I was using before, and it seems like I'm going to get at least as much battery out of these as that thing.
-nice to have something that doesn't fall out of your ear when you remove your helmet, or worse, when you hit some huge bumps while mountain-biking.
-Folding design seems sturdy to date, and I'm happy with the mileage I've gotten from them!
Minuses:
-The bulkiness underneath the Giro Ski Helmet is enough to cause pain in the ear canals. I've been using SonyStyle in the canal units just like these for years, except a little lower profile and flexible so I believe my exterior canals to be "calloused", but these still kicked my butt after about two-hours of skiing. I might cut out my ear pads to make 'em fit better- it is worth it!
-The flashing light on the side is VERY bright, and TWO layers of duct-tape still allows for light emission. I don't like to advertise I'm wearing them, but they do get a gee-whiz response from other techy folks.
-I am not a fan of the narrow mini-USB receptacle they use, I would prefer a traditional mini-USB, then they would charge with a more ubiquitous unit-carrying extra gear sucks!
-The controls on the side are awesome for all they do, but I can't tell you all of the stuff, because they are stinking complicated! I hope they keep all the control that these allow, just print a better manual, and show some diagrams- I'm not that tech naive, but my butt is kicked, and carrying around a manual sucks, too- how about an electronic form I can load onto my phone?
-No announcement of who is calling, not even a phone number, let alone a name.
-Doesn't play well with Skype on the phone application.
-sometimes doesn't play well with Skype on the Windows 7 application.
-I don't know the the firmware is upgradeable, which if it was, could take care of many of my gripes.
In the end, I would buy these again in a heartbeat, and if they aren't continued by Scosche, I'll get a few pairs to put away- they really fill a niche that I appreciate!
