(More customer reviews)This is a nice handset for a Gigaset VoIP/Dect 6 system. I added this handset to a Gigaset 580IP system and overall this handset is much nicer than the 58A handset that comes with the 580IP base station. Button action is good, feature set is much improved, and the directory is multi-level (multiple phone numbers for each entry). The USB connection and synchronization with Outlook is great.
The handset has a few issues, which I hope will be fixed in future firmware releases. Number one is the redail capability: when using the redial list, the handset always trys to redial using the landline (even when VoIP is configured as the primary line). This doesn't work in my situation, since I don't have a landline. Another issue is the "call lists" feature of the handset, which, according to the manual, is supposed to show 3 different types of entries: accepted calls, missed calls, and outgoing calls. My handset only has missed calls...and like the redial list, you can not dial a missed call, because the handset is trying to dial on a non-existent fixed line.

The latest firmware for the 580IP base station (released Dec, 2010) has fixed a few of the problem areas. In particular, the redial issue is fixed: It is now possible to redial using the VoIP configuration. The "call lists" feature still only has missed calls (the other two, accepted and outgoing calls not really being that important for me), and it is now possible to dial back a missed call. With the new firmware, the major problem issues for me have been resolved. The S79H handset is a great handset and it works well with the 580IP base station. The result is a great VoIP/Dect 6 system for a relatively low price.
