(More customer reviews)Well, after looking for a cordless after my GE cordless bit the dust, I started looking for a good decent cordless phone. I never realized it would be such a journey to find a good one. The phones today look terrible. Who designs them, turtles? I saw yellow phones with green, pumpkin color phones, white phones backlit with orange, black phones backlit with milky white and blue lettering? Yuk! Uniden phones looked like a 70s flashback of Tandy. Most of the phones are awful looking. I finally found one in silver which goes with all the silver stuff in my house, this one. I took for granted there is no mute button. If there is a mute button PLEASE write it on here because I went through the instructions, nothing about mute. I can barely see mute listed in the window but no mute button. Called Vtech and the girl said she didn't know, asked someone else who didn't know and I thought, THEY don't know, how in hades am I supposed to know if they don't know? So anyone find it, let me know! Second, the beeping buttons! Everything beeps. Beep here, beep there, beep, beep, beep! You can't turn off the loud beeping noise of every button you push. At least I haven't found it as it wasn't in the instructions and you guessed it, the girl at vtech didn't know either but she thought probably the beeping noises can't be turned off. If you find out it can, again post it here please! If you use the phone at night and others are sleeping, you might avoid this one because the beeps are loud. So loud that a guest staying with me in the next room said she could hear the beeps and wondered what it was. To me, it is rather juvenile to have beeping buttons. I just want a quiet phone that only makes noise when someone is calling. The good about this phone is the sound is clear and good. It looks really good, the buttons do light up, and it is very cheap in price, but don't expect wonders for a 20 dollar phone. As someone mentioned, the ringer is about the only thing not loud on this phone. Also, you probably wouldn't want to step more than 20 feet away from the base unit to have clear sound. All in all, a fair phone.
Update: After having this phone now for several weeks, I have to say it still works good and I am getting used to the beeping buttons, but still wished they would add the option to cut the noises off. I would also add that the reception is pretty good, for me at least.
