(More customer reviews)I wanted a good speakerphone, one where people couldn't tell I was using one. Although this Panasonic's speakerphone produces a clear sound both ways, people still can tell I'm not using the handset. I also reversed places with a friend and had him call me from my phone. I would say the sound quality was 90% satisfactory, it was clear without any echo, but still a slight "can" sound. The phone is loaded with other features that offset any negatives with sound quality. This includes a digital answering machine, caller-id on both handset and base unit, dialpad on both handset and base unit, phone directory for 50 names on both handset and base unit, plus it's a 900MHZ cordless, so I can wander away from my desk while on the phone. Also, I can connect a headset to the handset and walk around the house talking with my hands free. I am also considering the Polycom soundpoint pro, because I heard it was the best speakerphone, however it is a corded phone lacking the extra features mentioned above. In conclusion, I'll probably wind-up keeping the Panasonic.

The Panasonic KXTC1871B spread spectrum cordless phone features digitalspread spectrum (DSS) technology. The DSS uses the entire 900 MHz frequencyband, providing greater output power and boosting range, and making it verydifficult for others to eavesdrop on your calls.
The digital duplex speakerphone reduces echo and dropout, permitting a morenatural-sounding conversation. Instead of using tapes, the all-digital answeringmachine records messages on an advanced microchip with a total recording time of15 minutes. Messages are held in flash memory and are unaffected by powerfailure or interruptions. You can also change the greeting message, checkmessages, erase messages, and more from any touch-tone phone.
The KXTC1871B supports caller ID with call waiting. The caller ID display islocated on the back of the handset for easy viewing. You can store upto 50 telephone numbers in the KXTC1871B's directory and can access each usingthe navigation key.
For recharging, place the handset in the base with the keypad facing up or down.Unlike other phones that require an overnight charging period, the KXTC1871Bbattery charges in just six hours, thanks to the Ultra Charge battery chargesystem. The handset has a three-level volume control, a belt clip, and a headsetjack. The lighted handset keypad makes it easier to dial numbers in darkenedrooms.
