To explain part 2 of my title, the phone is not backlit. The caller ID is small, dark, hard to see. Neither the numerals, nor screen is backlit.
In another review I compared my 10 year old uniden favorably to my GE 5.6 mhz phone because the sound on the uniden was much better. the GE volume was too low and not adjustable. on this phone the volume is also low, and their is a faint echo which is very distracting. I am thinking about returning this and just buying a new battery for the GE. I replaced it because I was unahppy with that phone, but the replacement is worse.
I will add that my original uniden (now outdated) felt solid and substantial. This one feels cheap. the receiver/ stand is very lightweight. You almost feel as though it ought to be weighted down.
Too bad. i thought highly of uniden products until I purchased this particular phone.
